Description

This app serves as a ‘window’ to an already existing forum on the Arabic Courses website.  It allows for anyone to post up questions to the Arabic Courses staff members, and even to other participants.  Questions can be about Arabic, and even topics related to Islam and other social issues.

Room for improvement

It would be good if any video content could be watched from within the app without having to go to external links.

It also would be nice if it has ‘Push’ notification for new posts or articles that one has subscribed to.

Description

As dictionaries go, this is no doubt the best one on the Apple Apps Store.  It has the ability to search for the english meaning of words using the whole word, and even the partial word by using ‘while cards’ to search for words.  eg ك*اب would use the star as ‘any’ letter.

It has over 80,000 word stems, and also evaluates the words back to their roots once you find them.  Definitely an app to have for those who are learning Arabic, or want to have a good Arabic-English dictionary in their pocket.

Room for improvement

Probably the most obvious downfall of this app is the price.  £15 for an app that some may not use often is a bit steep.  If it had been £5.99, they probably would have made more money  by shear volume of sales and high review numbers, but with a price of £15, I cant see many downloading it, and even less reviewing it and giving it 5 stars.

This is a one way dictionary, so although you can find out the English of Arabic words, you cant find the Arabic of English words.
