This is a translation of Soorah al-Furqaan added onto the audio recitation. The reciter is one of my old teachers from when I was studying in the Islamic University of Madeenah. His name is Abdur-Raheem al-Qaawish, and is of Moroccan decent. He was my teacher for Sarf and studied with him Laamiyyah al-Af’aal. He is extremely strong in the language, and spent some time in Mauritania with shaykh Muhammad Saalim.
He finished his degree in the faculty of Qur’aan in Madinah University, went onto do a masters in Tafseer, and is now in his Phd (May Allaah grant him success in that and benefit the Ummah with him).
Both I and Abdul-Waahid of Croydon ICT studied with him and have many fond memories of our lessons with him. Other than being a person of high character, he was funny and very charitable. One of the best moments was during Taraweeh, as he used to lead taraweeh in his local masjid near Madeenah University (yes, a non saudi was legally leading taraweeh in saudi). His voice used to resonate throughout the Hayy (area) and used to sound so good that it was hard to walk and listen (ie you just wanted to just stand and listen).
May Allaah Bless him, the scholars of Islaam and the muslims as a whole.
Abdul-Waahid of croydon ICT found this video clip when we were both still in madeenah, and I have always wanted everyone to hear his recitation. So I re-compiled it from its original form while adding an english translation to it that synchronise with the Arabic in order to allow people to correctly connect the meaning to the Arabic (for those who don't know Arabic, or don't know it well enough to follow it totally). We used Muhsin Khaan’s translation of the meaning, but also edited it slightly to remove un-necessary explanations, brackets and to make what was translated relative to what was recited. Perfection is only for Allaah, and if anyone sees any mistakes or room for improvement, then could they please let us know, jazaakallaahu khairan.
