    Three scholars are in town

    As-salaamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu!

    Masjid Ibn Taymiyyah Brixton is pleased to announce the visit of three Shaykhs in person from Madeenah University!

    Shaykh Ghazi al-Mutayree (head of the College of Dawah and Usul ud Deen, Madeenah University and head of the Hay'ah in Madeenah);

    Shaykh Burayk bin Muhammad (College of Dawah and Usul ud Deen, Madeenah University)

    and Shaykh Marzooq al-Yoobee (head of student affairs).

    From Wednesday 6th - 11th September they will be in London for a week at Masjid Ibn Taymiyyah Brixton; Masjid al-Huda; Croydon ICT;

    Woolwich Mosque and other venues. An all-day weekend conference will be held with the Shaykhs on the weekend of the 10-11th September at Masjid Ibn Taymiyyah Brixton. Then they will be outside of London the following week in Manchester, Birmingham and Leicester.

    I have just spoken to Masjid Ibn Taymiyyah and they have informed me that the conference this weekend has been CANCELLED. They are planning to do 2 lectures via teleconference with the shaykhs however this is yet to be confirmed.

    Why was it cancelled? Was it part of our 'new government'?

    They didn't tell me ( the brother i spoke to seemd like he was in a rush )

    ive never attended a teleconference. What are they like?

    Personally, I found it difficult to attend and didn't get much benefit (back in the days I didn't know arabic) because translations were not always straight away, and I found it hard to concentrate between the two languages. But for those who understand Arabic, it 'should' be easier to focus. I like listening to some scholars, like the Muftee, or Luhaidaan.

    But I would always encourage people to attend the gatherings of knowledge, whether it be on the phone, or not.
