harff jarr
On exercise 4 I've got it written down that
الباب مغلق
Becomes
ليس الباب بمغاق
Is مغلق a harf jarr? If so why

what is harf jarr حرف جر
Harf jarr in Arabic is any of the following:
في
إلى
على
من
عن
بــ
لــ
And some others. Don't worry if any of then are new, the point is that they are any harf the makes the word after it majroor. So in "بمعلقٍ" the "باء" is the hard jarr and "مغلق" is majroor

What I don't get is, WHY does
مغلق
Become
بمغلق؟
In that sentence? Why do we add it in a sentence with ليس but in other sentences with ليس we don't?
Are we adding ب so it becomes مجر
If so why does the final word need to become مجر

You don't have to use "بــ" at all, it's just that the author wanted to avoid exposing you to what "ليس" does to the word without it.
