girl's and boy's names
1) what the ways in which one can determine whether a name/word is Feminine or Masculine?
2) So for example, is Taymiyyah a girls name and why?
And how would you spell Taymiyyah?

To be honest, I personally don't know of any official rule that one could use an all names that indicates whether it is male of female. I would assume that ـة at the end would be a dead giveaway, but there are plenty of names for men that end in ـة so that's doesn't help. The only thing I would say is to look at how Arabs use the name. If you find women with that name, then it's a woman's name, and visa versa. It isn't really an answer to your question but the only answer I have.
As for Taymiyya, then based on myself up rule above it is an Arab name because it was the name of the grand mother of the famous ibn Taymiyya.
