Ok, I do remember this now after learning what حشف means. The proverb literally translates as "Do you [combine] poor quality dates and bad measure?" and it refers/is said to someone who combines two bad qualities or characteristics.
I should've added that the asl of the word is iztād (ازتاد) but the tā' is replcaed with a dāl in this case, since it is preceded by a zāy.
